Definition:

A form of prejudice that can form damaging images of people because of a particular characteristic without having any knowledge of the person. 

Characteristic:

 Stereotypes are characteristics ascribed to groups of people involving gender, race, national origin and other factors. These characteristics tend to be oversimplifications of the groups involved.

Advantage or disadvantage:

Both negative and positive stereotypes exist, but even the latter do harm.

Example:

This particular child, however, suffers from a learning disability and struggles to keep up with his classmates in school. Because his teacher buys into the stereotype that this child is supposed to excel in class because “his people” are highly intelligent, she might assume that his poor marks are because he’s lazy and never do the investigative work needed to discover his learning disability, saving him from years of struggle in school.

The logical mind map is directly to connect the stereotypes. With the Logical Mind Map it comprises of the solely stereotype words. That means every word or an image that is put with the mind map is directly related to the central of the subject through its links.

When using an associated mind map we are able to generate a lot of random words and also show the links that is between the words that are seemingly have no connection at all.

As we know, the terms metaphor, simileand analogy are the same but the meanings of those three terms differentiates. To be able to see the differences of the meanings, we have provided a simple definition of each terms.

Metaphor : The term 'metaphor' is often use in everyday life. It can be known as a figure of speech.  It uses one thing to mean another and make comparisons between them. An example of this is 'He is such a snake'. From that metaphor, without figuring out the meaning behind it, it simply means that he is a snake. Further on when we figure out the meaning, we can know that a snake is sneaky and dangerous, therefore the sentences is showing that he is full of danger. 

Simile : Whereas similes, it is a form of metaphor that uses two different things to make a new meaning. Similes often uses word such as ‘like’ or ‘as’. For example; “He eats like a pig” which simply means that he eats greedily and untidy.

Analogy : For analogy, it is more complicated. It shows similarity between things that might seem different. Rather than a figure speech like metaphor, analogy is more of a logical argument. Analogy supports the idea of how two things are alike by pointing out the shared characteristics between the two things. By showing that the two things are alike, analogy also points out that they are quite similar in other ways as well.

A computer mouse and a real mouse.
